To See the Face of God
Story by A.S.Nightbird
Art by Patt
Genre: Slash, Crossover (The Sentinel/Flashpoint/The
Listener)
Rating: PG
Warnings: Slash (Jim/Blair) but nothing more explicit than
kissing.
Summary: Simon helps Jim hatch a plan to surprise Blair,
but as usual Blair has a way of finding trouble. This results in
Jim's secret being revealed. Fortunately, things work out even
better than expected thanks to the men and women of Toronto's
elite Police Strategic Response Unit.

Author's Notes: First off, for those not familiar
with "Flashpoint", a brilliant Canadian TV show, based on Toronto’s
elite police Emergency Task Force (ETF), you
can learn more about "Flashpoint" here. For those not familiar
with the great Canadian TV show "The Listener" (even though it plays
an extremely minor role in this story – Spike from "Flashpoint" had
a minor guest appearance on "TL", so I’m returning the favor) about
a telepathic paramedic, you
can learn more about "The Listener" here. And for those
"Flashpoint" fans reading this who are not familiar with the great
American TV show "The Sentinel" about a cop with highly enhanced
senses, you
can learn more about "The Sentinel" here.
I have messed with the timeline a bit, in order to include
characters I like. This story is set before the first episode of
"Flashpoint" ("Scorpio", which can be watched on YouTube), which
is when the character of Sam Braddock actually enters the picture
for the first time. Also, the character of Winnie Camden does not
appear in the first season of the show.
I have tried hard to maintain as much accuracy as possible with
having a story set in 2008. Some things I was able to verify as
existing in 2008, such as the glass floor in the CN Tower and the
cost of certain items. Other things I couldn’t, so I just went
with what I could find currently on Google.
Since I’m an American who hasn’t been to Canada since Eisenhower
was President of the USA, I apologize now to any Canadians for any
mistakes I may have made. Sometimes Google is really helpful, and
sometimes it isn’t. (Imagine that!)
I wish to thank the following people for their help, which made
this story so much better:
- NightOwl – who provided information on downtown Toronto and
banks and buildings in particular. She kept me from making some
big mistakes and steered me in a different direction that made
the story even better.
- Scott of the RCMP – who answered some questions about bringing
guns into Canada, also preventing me from making a big mistake.
Canada/USA gun laws are quite different, which I knew, but not
the details.
- Also, thanks to Air Canada, Lester B. Pierson International
Airport, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA), and the
Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) for their excellent websites
and videos, all of which helped improve the accuracy and realism
of what I wrote.
- Enormous thanks, hugs and love go to my dear friend,
cheerleader, and the best beta reader ever – Natalie L. She
never fails to keep me from messing up big time! She’s an utter
joy with whom to work. Here’s to at least another 16 years!
- And finally, last but certainly not least, my sincere and deep
thanks to my artist, Patt. It was an enormous pleasure working
with her. She really made my first Big Bang fun and did such
fantastic art work for my story. I'm so thrilled! It looks
super, Patt! We did it!!!
